Three years ago, I wrote one of my most popular pieces about the day when the military would be utterly defeated—when the people would come together and fiercely turn against the military’s supporters. Since all the intelligence the military relied on was full of errors, every decision they made turned out to be wrong. Because of that, I predicted that no matter what they did, one day they would suffer a complete and crushing defeat.
They believe they seized power by rigging the elections. People don’t think that the top general took power merely because he wanted to become president. They’re unaware that there isn’t even a single military supporter in any town. They also believe that once in power, the economy will suddenly take off, and they think the strength of the PDF is minimal. They assumed that popular support didn’t matter. (If I were to list more mistakes, there would be many—let’s stop here.)
There has never been in military history a force that, after forcibly rounding up the people and ordering them to cross minefields, could prevail against those who once managed to win by bombing villages with airplanes. Just as I predicted, the military is now completely collapsing.
My friends then asked, “If we can no longer help the military win, what should we do now?” I answered with one word: Run. If the military turns on itself, the people will soon switch their allegiance away from its supporters.
